6 Tips For A Great Relocation To Denmark

Relocating to a new country can be a fun, exciting, life changing event that will not only push your career miles ahead, but it can also develop your character and grant you a lot of personal and interpersonal skills and experiences.

However, In order to have a smooth transition into your new life chapter, there are a few things that you should know before embarking on this journey.

Here Are 6 tips That Will Help You Relocate With Ease

1. Make sure you ask your employer the right questions

If you are relocating for employment reasons make sure you fully understand what your future job entitles and whether a relocation company has been hired to take care of you and your family. This means asking questions about salary, accomodation, visas, moving costs, transportation allowance and taxes.

2. Find out about the legal requirements of the country of destination

It is important to mention that it is often difficult to get a permanent residency visa in European countries if you are not from the EU. Even with a valid passport, you cannot stay for more than three months. There are ways to make moving easier for people with business relocations but you need to make sure that you are well aware of what is expected of you legally.

3. Make sure you can cover your expenses

Your first few months will include higher expenses than usual, so try to take this into consideration when relocating to a new country. Make sure you do some research before negotiating your salary. Take into consideration moving costs, travel costs, registration fees. In Denmark some of these costs are tax deductible, so make sure you check with a professional to save some money.

4. Visit your destination before you move

If you have the chance to visit, then do it. Getting a feel of the place before you are in the midst of moving hysteria is usually a good idea. Find out how the traffic and public transport is and where the important locations are, such as malls, grocery stores, local libraries, banks etc. Book a hotel room / rental for a few days or weeks and find out as much as you can about the country and neighborhoods.

5. Try renting before making a big purchase

Wherever you relocate to, finding the perfect home can be quite the challenge. We recommend you never commit to a permanent purchase in an unknown location. Get yourself a rental in a neighbourhood that you seem to like and find out what it’s like to live there before buying a permanent home.
